I am 43 now. I was about 13ish when this came out (can't be assed to do the exact math). The establishment isn't as bad as we thought it was back then, but this song made me realise how shit it was to be judged by others. You can have an opinion and it is valid, just don't necessarily expect me (or anybody) to agree with your opinion. Also whilst on the subject of opinion, in my OPINION, Megadeth kick Metallica's ass. This is one of the best Megadeth songs! And that means a lot ;-) The atmosphere in this one.... Wow

Dave and Jr were freebasing crazy amounts of cocaine during the recording and tour of this album. I think the original CD and vinyl pressing of this album is near perfect. The 2004 remaster does not sound good to me. All the reverb on the drums has been removed and the guitars sound thin as paper. Basically all the life has been sucked out of the sound. I only kept the 2004 CD for the Paul Lani alternate mixes. Without the drug abuse in Megadeth the music would have more than likely been different. Its sad that we lost Gar to liver disease he was a very talented drummer and contributed a lot to the first two Megadeth albums. May he rest in peace.

Metalhead640 they mixed it to sound like rust in peace which was a totally different animal, this one was fine the way it was, the drums and bass are more lifeless with a lot less bass and feedback which really boosted the sounds in the midrange, the remaster Has no gray area and just makes everything lose its effect and fall flat

You got it all wrong. The label 'Parental Advisory' meant that the PRMC lost. They wanted complete censorship on music with "explicit lyrics" But instead they had to settle with these labels. So that the artists are still capable to release their music (with explicit content in tact)

I know everyone one says Rust in Peace will always be Megadeth's greatest record but So far, So good... So What! has always and will always have a special place in my heart. I've always said Dave must've been on some crazy shit to make such an awesome smash your teeth and kick your ass record. I can recall countless times I got drunk off my ass to this record blasting the shit out of it for all to hear.

Even though Countdown to Extinction is when Megadeth cleaned up production and it wasn't as raw as previous albums I actually think, as a whole, that's their best album. Every song on it is flawless and the songwriting is fucking amazing. That was also their last great album from start to finish.
