Bellísimo 😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I want a man to court me like that
Human courtship displayed artistically and tastefully. Un dilelleto extraordinario e fantastico. Thank you Vivaldi and thank you Voices of Music for your beautiful rendition. Grazie!!!
You are very welcome.
Is it the dancing-Cathedral? Is it the dancing-Althar?
Que belleza el sonido de esas castañuelas. El bailarín se luce , es soberbio y La Folia de Vivaldi interpretada por Voices ofMusic...........es el paraíso . Bravo !!
Bravo!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Where was this performance. The music, the dancers and the setting, how marvelous!
A Summer of 2019 BBC article on "La Folia," a folk tune associated with 15th century Portugal brought me here. The tune crossed over the border to Spain, then on to Italy via musicians employed by the Vatican. Traces of "La Folia" spread across Europe, as part of the Baroque wave, from Italy to the German states, France, etc. The opening bars remind me of Handel's "Sarabande," used as the "Barry Lyndon" movie theme. http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20190726-could-la-folia-be-historys-most-enduring-tune
8:12 She is smiling to me.
I knew there's going to be a bullfight in the seconds as I notice the red color of the underskirt! :) One of the best videos I've ever seen on youtube. Thank you all for your effort.
That's grandios...
Ah, as soon as I saw the dancers, I thought, "brilliant!" Adding baroque dancers is a great, great idea! Thank you for posting this video! Damn, I wish I could have seen it live. Bummer! Mesmerizing, riveting. Music and performance are superb, but the baroque costumes are fantastic! My favorite period of history in art, dress, architecture, and most of all, music. Plus it has JS Bach! Love the castanets! Nice touch and a perfect addition.
beautiful
Fantastic performance -- sublime music, elegant and admirable in every respect
Seemed like korean fan dance.
so beautiful
I love you art
I was able to see them in Hartford CT, beautiful performance and the vestuario is fabulous, Very happy to find this video
This interpretation is superb indeed, the dancing very well choreographed. An excellent performance. Interestingly enough this "La Folia" piece was originally never intended for dancing! It was a composition designed for the purpose of practice. Hence the continuing repetition of its melody in various ways. Nevertheless a well done!
Thank you for visiting our channel. The Vivaldi La Folia was published by Vivaldi in Opus 1, and enjoyed wide distribution throughout Europe. There is no suggestion that the work was a practice piece, or that it was not used for dance.
The male dancer is quite incredible.
Pure European elegance at its finest.
Amazing performance. Thank you very much!!!
Excelente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.-
This is so beautiful!!. The dancers made great work!!. I hope you''ll upload more performances in the future!!.
They are doing Sevillanas in the end!! Perfectly fits the rythm
They sure knew how to do a beautiful courtly dance back then. These are incredible, intricate steps.
They remind me of a pair of birds of paradise , displaying to each other. Very beautiful.
fantastic!!!!
The best channel on YouTube. I have never found another which comes close to this quality of art. Thank you. This video is a gem.
Sus mascarás me dajarán un trauma.
That's just AMAZING! Please, continue performing these masterpieces! Congratulations from Brazil
We will continue!
Me ha gustado un montón
Can you play the La Follia Corelli version?
No words to describe this interpretation. Thank you for sharing!
Perfecto!!!
Perfect!!!!!
Wow, that was marvelous. Aren't our clothes and manner so much more boring today?
Yes, that's where sans culottes and rancid Democracy will get you.
MrGoatflakes, you really check out all the garments available on e-bay. I got myself a stunning embroidered kurta just the other week.
Sure, I guess our clothes are more boring today, but at least most people can afford nice clothes now unlike back then.
Fantastisk god og temperament fyldt musik godt med energi og smuk dans eller ballet.......
La Folia of Vivaldi, dance of my Spain with castanets. _Very beautiful interpretation; very Spanish._
Glück https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folia. Those masks are Venetian not Spanish. This Is Vivaldi ‘s version. Which is Italian.
@Kelly Henderson Vivaldi was Italian and this music is Italian too, but this dance in video represent Spanish dancers; "torero", "esgrime", "dress of Goya", "zapateado" and "castanets", only for a marks are Italian?. I understand that you aren't European and you confuse, I know well dances Spanish and dances of Carnival of Venice, this dancers represent Spanish people not Italians, greetings from Germany. lol
@Kelly Henderson I'm Italian, we do not usally use castanets but cymbals with rattles in popular dances (e.g .tarantella ). Follia is a popular musical theme declined by several musicians (Lully, Bach, Vivaldi) . I think this excellent performance is a well balanced and perfect mix: Venetian music and Venetian Masks, Spanish dance with Spanish castanets :)
@Sara Zoni Follia is a dance origin from Portugal and Spain in centuries 15th and 16th expanded for all Europe, but melodie is pure music baroque Italian, German or French, Marin Marais or Lully composition "Follias de l'Espagne", (Follies of Spain see in YouTube). I am French and live near Spain.
@Alicia Cat exaclty what I wrote.
That was amazing. Truly amazing.
Dancers did a marvelous job; beautifully done! The musicians did an equally impressive interpretaion of the Vivaldi...bravo!
Beautiful indeed
جميل جدا
I love the fact that they are wearing masks. It gives the performance an eerie, otherwordly feel, like two Meissen figurines come to life. Excellent !
Peter Karargiris it makes me think of the movie "Eyes wide shut" though
Agree it looks stylish, but spare a thought for the dancers who probably don't feel all that comfortable having to dance with a mask on. Hats off to them...
Venetian masks.
que belleza la combinacion de la elegancia y la hermosura de la composicion, es como si me transportara a otra dimension. esto es arte.
is the whiteface makeup authentic? (it's certainly distracting)
Those are carved masks based on original baroque masks.
oh I see, thank you for the information.
Sorry, I should have also apologized for the tone of my initial uninformed comment!
trezeste nostalgia trecutului...
Charming! Fabulous! Sublime! I agree with Le Hunt: couldn't have been more beautifully done.
Vivaldi..Divine son of God
Fantastic music with the charming dancing .
performance exquise
Excellent!!!!!
Wonderfull...Superbe Maravhlioso.....bellissimo
Bravo! la Folia dance of Spain.
How can you be so blind to not see it the word barocco is italian, as the baroque periode was born in italy. How can an art movment born in italy be named by a portuguese word? The word barocco didn't exist until in Rome a new style begun to rise up, which for some reason they decide to call barocco. As this new art periods spreads through europe, other countries adopted the term.
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/baroque
Yes you are right barroco is the portuguese world for unround shaped pearl, the italian word barocco stands for playfull bizzare art, both words seem to have a comune latin root, only they are used in different ways.
Michele Abate Barroco born in the Vaticano for Catholics style more expresive and magnific that other religions Christians in Europe.
Castanets were used in several countries for dance in the Baroque periods. Italy being one.
beautifully
Святослав Рихтер сказал что мир может спасти только барокко.
You are fantastic
Estupendo espectaculo
Everybody who has NOT seen and heard this piece does not know what art is. Absolutely fantastic artwork.
Ho scordato mi pare che il tema sia spagnolo...
claudio: Corretto. Molto spagnolo, bensi' l'origine era portughese, secondo cio che ho letto.
Pero' con Vivaldi siamo a Venezia: avete visto il balletto?
This may well be my new favorite VoM video
es un espectaculo, maravilloso.
Maravilhoso
Very nice!
Nicht schlecht....
He is very good at the castanets!
The dancing is marvelous, but it tends to overshadow the fact that the musical performance may be the finest version of Vivaldi's "La Folia" on youtube.
La Folia is a dance spanish.
¡¡VIVA ESPAÑA!! no it isn't it's a classical song for classical dancing Spanish dancing is more faster
La Folia with castanet very Spanish.
I agree. everything on this channel is so rustic and authentic, it's unbelievable.
fantastic!!
Couldn't have been more beautifully done.
the occasional tapping scared me :Dbeautiful!
"Fu**... Fu**.. oh damn. This is my short story.
Castanets.
Most excellent
Wyśmienite!!!
Marvelous! I do like the sword so much^_^
Stunning!
Beautiful
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely stunning, amazing performance! Many thanks for sharing!
Beautiful .... Wonderful
I loved it with all my heart, I only disliked the out of time epeé (instead of a small sword or a rapier) and I'm not completely confortable with the "Capote de paseo" (bullfighters' cape) with French shoes (although it may not be too far away from reality). But anyway excellent performance.
Fabulous! This is where ballet came from. This is exactly the stuff Louis XIV was doing at Versailles in his all night dance extravaganzas!!
The sound of Spinet is simply most glorious!
Am i the only one who think this is absolutely inappropriate for a church?
This is a Lutheran church. I would be upset if this were a Catholic church, but then again, nutty priests and bishops, even Pope Francis, are doing worse things in churches these days.
You think it's too sexy? 🌚 because it's spanish hehe
yes. the only one.
Hector Moreno, that must have been quite a tasteful videogame...
oui,oui,oui!!!
göttliche Musik....Danke für´s Hochladen
Very classy ,brava!!!
BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! LINDO!!
einzigartig. wundervoll. Danke.thpaw
Большое спасибо ! Танцы Барокко открыла для себя совсем недавно. Смотрю и удивляюсь- где же я раньше была ?! Какая красота и великолепие !
Beautiful. It assures me that I was born in the wrong history period.
Bruno Piccinin this looks weird
How do you know? I remember being born in 1706 near Versailles, France and when I was an adult, I was fortunate to listen to Vivaldi live. Beautiful indeed.
Brilliant, my favorite folia variations. I particularly love how it ends in typical Vivaldi style.
Thanks Kevin!
Thanks for watching our video.
this makes me believe in time travel! marvellous, both musicians and dancers. thank you.
Love. Love. Love!
