Nobody plays better or is cooler than Joe Pass!

EHI GUYS BUT THERE'S A FESTIVAL OF GUITARISTS? YOU FORGET THE BIGGEST . PAT METHENY
When i attended MI - PIT I got the privilege of hanging with guys almost daily but perform with them. Well worth the price of admission. Class acts. Bob Taught jazz improv and Jopo loved all aspects of drumming. Joe Pass a league of his own. Love thru music.
Chet Atkins deserves more credit, Jimmy Page owes everything to the hit factories he had worked in, and of course he owes a lot of John Paul Jones. How about John McLaughlin? Eddie Van Who? Ugh. Hendrix was a pioneer, but of style more than substance. Django doesn’t do it for me. Tommy Emmanuelis simply gifted, and I’ve worked with him many times as a sound engineer. The coolest, down to Earth, most sincere dude around. And he’s self taught no less!!! My favorite part of his show is near the beginning he’s playing a Beatles medley but playing the guitar part, bass part, and drum parts all himself and then coyly looks over his shoulder and asks the non-existent “band” when they’d like to join in!!! Too much! The story is that during an interview when EVHalen was asked who was the best guitarist in the world, he simply said Tommy Emmanuel .
REALLY, What can one say about Joe Pass? hahahaha He has it ALL. This trio can blend soooooo well.
1:16....obviously, Joe's comment on them new-fangled rock guitarists, right ? ;-)
Lovely wasn't it?! Many fans of the "new-fangled rock guitarists" believe that their "Gods" invented two handed tapping when it goes way back before the era of cranked up Marshalls!! Joe was a legend with a sense of humour.
Absolutely wonderful! How is it that he has twice as much time as me to play each phrase? 🤪
There are times I see Hercules Poirot playing it - Thanks for the video!
Why does this remind me of the map song from dora?
dios mio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
⛴Noah.platinum⚓︎🌈✨🌎♪♬♩
Maravilloso Joe Pass, qué guitarrista tan impresionante.
Un verdadero Maestro Joe Pass, inolvidable ♫ ♫
Bob Magnussen, nice bass worth mentioning, and trading licks with Joe from about 3:40 -- For more Joe and Bob, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUVJ_6yS9nU
One of the finest most delicate Jazz musicians ever, I have seen him play many times and even met him in person once when his amp broke down and he borrowd mine !! In The Hague, Netherlands more than 30 years ago
The odd couple.
the Best ever equal !!
This is the number ONE jazz guitarist in the world bar NONE!!!!! No other player could play smooth, seemingly endless lead lines along with the chords,, AND the bass line as well
Such a tremendous player. I had the honor and privilege of being able to see and hear him play a couple of times. So sad - another musician that succumbed to liver disease. A once in a lifetime talent. RIP.
bien le ping pong avec le bassiste :)
Joe Porcaro on drums!
credit all musicians
Most elegant jazz guitarist ever!
Is that a joke on shred guitar at 1:16?
It is. I don't know if it's from the same show but in another video (a clinic if I remember) he basically jokes about people obsessed with speed. It was in the 80's so that's basically when Van Halen and all the shredders were very everywhere. Also you can see that he basically imitates the tapping technique
The difference between a genius and a ordinary guitar player as seen on Youtube. They play the melody and more musically. As Joe Pass said. People want to hear the melody.
es sin duda alguna unos de los grandes guitarristas de la dorada epoca en que se hacia el mejor jazz de todos los tiempos
Bravo !
San Diego's best bass player - Bob Magnusson on bass...
The great ones make it look so easy. You can tell he is completely relaxed and is in complete command of his instrument. Tone and note selection is flawless. This 2019 world of ours could use more musicians of his caliber. My friend knew him well and always tells me what a nice guy he was. The man was a pioneer and took the music to a much higher level. Truly a trend setting phenom the likes of which will probably never be seen again. If you listen carefully you can hear the joy in everything he plays.
Супер!
Listen to the volume control on those drums.
The late great JP - saw him at my university back in the 70’s in a totally packed auditorium. Joe was completely off his face on coke but what a brilliant evening listening to the master. RIP Joe.
Great!!! Jeff Porcaro Father play drums Joe Pass was Briliant!!!
Beautiful! I love Joe Pass music. Thanks
That is so good...
Looks like 210 non-guitarists showed up. Because NO guitarist would give a Joe Pass video a thumbs down.
JOE PASS THE BEST THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO..

I was wandering in the Mission in San Francisco one day, and Joe Pass was giving a free seminar. It changed my life, as a guitar player. He had such a wit, making fun of three chord rock. I will never forget. Such a gentleman, he was. He was a man of the people.
"Joe Pass was giving a free seminar" - that's basically heaven right there...
🛳NOAH COIN⚓︎🌈✨😉👌
miss you..grande joe
It should me mandatory on a youtube video to mention the names of all musicians and composers.
Allways on the edge, always challenging... Joe Pass is the coolest of jazz guitarists.
Joe's version of this classic is sooo cool. Love it!
And then there's Joe Pass...
WESS ES EL BEST MEJOR MEXICO CITY.
So good
it's so preposterously good, I fear my brain is gonna have some kind of neurological event.
Really love his chords. The stacked 4th’s on the bridge are ingenious in their simplicity and yet express an elegant sense of harmony. Joe was so cool.
Amazing playing. The Bassist has a great sound.
Quoting "Surrey" while reaching for a pick in his pocket. So fun. So musical.
absolute genius one of the best of all time! RIP
Flame maple neck on that bass! Also that Gibson sounds amazing..

ya just gotta laugh.....
Is it true that Joe started with a plectrum but used his fingers later in his career ?
https://youtu.be/7ttER_M1QdYI think he has played both for a long time before keeping what suits him more :)
Great guitarist Joe!!! wonder all
Joe Passのソロギターの映像を見ると、Gibsonとアイバニーズを使っていますが、明らかにGibsonの方が音がよい。さすがは「腐ってもGibson」。
legendary...
You know, his chord-melody playing was so breathtaking that it's often easy to miss how amazing his soloing and phrasing were. Although, it would seem that 165 teenage Steve Vai fanboys haven't grasped the true nature of musical genius quite yet. Do suppose it could be a hair thing?
Técnica, corazón, su pulso musical lo vuelve joven, al mundo lo pone a vibrar, racionalidad, arte, al mismo tiempo sencillez....virtuosismo reconocido, su humildad se escapa entre sus ojos y sus labios. Salud
JoPo on drums... Joe Porcaro
Now I know why I can't play a note! Joe got my share of the talent ......... and that of another thousand guys!
まじ,,,,///\\いいね!

I just love his voicings on the melody.
