Eeek! This is pitchy all over, and she's yelling all the belted notes. I really wanted to like this, but the technique is...not great, and really getting in the way of the emotional content of the song. :/

I partially disagree, she was quite resonant with the belts and sustain too (especially 3:10), but yea the D5's she strained and overpushed so much...she only supported the bb4's here lol and she is a soprano (but she acts like a mezzo for stylistic purposes).

I can't feel anything from her singing unfortunately. Her smiling between long notes seems just so disconnected from the meaning of the song... I feel like she's mostly trying to demonstrate she can hold high notes here and forgot what the song is about. Kelly Clarkson did a much better job on her cover.

This performance still gives me goosebumps

Get real. There is nothing special about Carrie's version of this song but loud caterwauling at inappropriate times. Kelly Clarkson's version is drenched "real" emotion that will move your soul. Carrie just doesn't get it or have it.

Then of course when you look back and hear Carrie's you realized everything she's done wrong. I totally agree. Anyone here saying that this song is not meant to be sung with so much emotion needs to go back and read the lyrics. It's literally about the despair of being with someone who keeps disappointing you but yet you're still so in love with them and can't go away. Only irrational Carrie fans would say she sang it better. Kelly literally brings me to tears with her cover!

What a passionate performance. Never heard this song until a few days ago. Now I can't stop listening to it.

Absolutely amazing.

I love this song, I love Carrie, the performance was absolute perfection (but when is it not when Carrie is the one performing), but this doesn't really seem like an appropriate song choice for the setting. I think it would've been better suited at the Grammy's perhaps, but when it's young adults and teenagers watching I think more upbeat tunes are better choices. But I loved everything about this performance; it was spectacular and there is nothing I would change about it.

BEAUTIFUL!!! NO ONE does it better. the may do it ina diferent way....but, it can't compare to Carrie Underwood. She hits the notes and gives it the feeling like no on else. She is a one of a kind. End of story.

I will gladly take some under pitch singing from Carrie which doesn't last too long. As opposed to what Taylor gives all the time which includes poor breath control, off-key notes, and yelling. Yes Carrie had a few vocal mishaps in the beginning. (And I didn't cringe either) But once she went into high gear, she became an unstoppable force. Saw her in concert last night. She was wonderful. A few flat notes here and there, the overall picture was a beauty. The price was worth it. Go Carrie !

WHAT a performance!! This honestly blew my mind and i'm really not a huge fan of country or Underwood...I have chills. It goes to show, when music/musician is good they are good, genre, style is irrelevant. She is a rare breed in today's industry.
