If it had been any other band that made Meddle, people would have pointed to it as evidence of their genius. Meddle is a stellar album, swamped out by the blue supergiants sitting right alongside them.

no other band would have ever been able to create Meddle, at that time and at any other time! don t forget how "old" it is ... although sounding so special and perfect, both together :)

Best Pink Floyd albums: Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Meddle and Animals in no particular order. The Wall comes in a distant fifth, but fifth is still pretty damned good!

Meddle is wayyyyy underrated in my opinion.

@Eric Y Meddle is great, but my top five is:1. Wish You Were Here (Perfect blend of spitting in the eye of the music industry and remembering Syd Barrett)2.Dark Side Of The Moon (Overrated, but monumental for its time, spoke of the mundane and relatable)3. Animals (An Orwellian look on industrial society as a whole, but not for the ones with weak attention spans)4. The Wall (a memoir of Roger Waters as a child and the story of Pink building his emotional Wall. The adolescent nature of the album is a plus and a minus)5. Meddle. (unarguably the start of one of the best eras in rock and roll for one of the best bands, and really created the long psychadelic song, Echoes is something the world will never forget)

I am 33. My father who was an MP in Vietnam still counts Pink Floyd as his favorite band......he passed all the love down to me. I used to listen to this album(which I would "borrow" and replace in his CD collection) on the nights I was too Fucked up to go home and stayed the night at my friend Andys house. The room I had must have been blasting this album .....but everyone always slept soundly. I know now the healing power of Floyd at 33 yrs old. I was born into the wrong generation. I like to think I gave peace to that house of lost souls. Gave their dreams an injection of pure inspiration......."Remember when you were young?? Shone like the 🌞......Shine on you crazy diamond" and all you crazy Diamonds out there waiting for the chance to shine. Don't reach for the secret too soon.....

I remember when i first listened to this and it got to around 3:50 and the synth texture started to die down and i thought "wow, that was incredib-" and then the guitar lead line started playing and the song started to build and my mind was blown

yeah i rejected the start on my first listen in 97' but the guitar surprised me as i knew absolutely nothing about pink floyd, glad i hung in there, love the piano now, also the sax player for PF Dick Parry is actually a big deal for me, though hes never mentioned just as clare torrey was never mentioned in 'great gig in the sky' but Richard Wright is

Cet album est une tuerie! je l'ai en vinyle non remasteriser mais j'aime comme ça, sa le rend authentique c'est un super album pop psychedelique jazz fusion; progressif et même industriel par moment enfin avant j'adhèrer pas trop les pink floyd mais maintenant j'adore c'est comme un livre on doit saisir le sens c'est ça qui est extra avec eux, c'est pas juste de la musique ! C'est spirituel et leurs titres à chacun son histoire ambiguë j'adore!

@Cool Coyote Their official channel, even with an adblocker, like when you want to watch a movie from the youtube movies channel. That's why I came here to listen.Edit: Actually looks like the first part for SOYCD was replaced with an ad for a boxset? Strange because it's their official WYWH playlist. Either it's a mistake, or they want you to buy their box set. The full first part is still officially available through a search.

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun and we had those huge speakers and listened to LP'slike abby road , bread, pink floyd and the rest. Those big old speakers were the best. 😎

Close, Kenwood amp, Technics turntable & Bose speakers. Still using it all. We got 2 loads of old vinyl recently, some 45s but mostly albums. When I say 2 loads I mean we filled a 3/4 ton Dodge van twice. I'm once again using my amp & turntable. The speakers have always been hooked up, I've just added more.

TIMOTHY MYCHALUK I worked as a roadie back in the early 70’s in Phila and NJ and NY. Setting up stage equipment for concerts. Met a lot of kool bands. It was very easy to go wild and burn out fast back then I almost lost it a few times. Lost a lot of very kool musician friends of mine. Because of the party scene and groupies, very easy to get lost in that scene. I still love to pull out one of my guitars and jam. My cat likes to hang out on the sofa and meow away as I play kind of funny.

believe me it wasnt like that at all. bands have a shelf life. as successful as the beatles were, they wanted to do other things too. david has done what he wanted.

A shame indeed, but it could be much worse. I mean just regular people staying friends for that long is not that common, as people change, but they had quite a long run before Waters and Gilmour got into an argument, and even then Gilmour, Mason and Wright still stayed together.

well of course they stayed tight, as they were not the cause of the trouble were they. waters has been a pain after his 30's and a bit of a dick lets be honest. roger waters a was a good lad in his 20's a nice chap. but things change. firing Wright was a dick move

@Kennedy Crevoiserat Its a true story. As he said one day Syd showed up at the original recording studio Britannia Row. Fat bald and with no eye brows. If you watch it they show the picture they took of him that day.

Not many albums can fathom the likes of this one.....Nothing like the days when an album was a story from start to finish. A rollercoaster of delights. Damn this album is so fucking fantastic!

but pink floyd made the album, they improved a lot after he left and im one that likes sids piper at the gates of dawn stuff but they went beyond experimental stuff to greatness

Imagine being me. Im 31 and had never listened to pink Floyd before a couple months ago when some friends put this album on in its entirety mid lsd trip. What these men achieved in 75' hasn't even been touched since. I truly feel like im in on something special forhaving loved this album.

The only band that even came close...but still couldn't master the soundscapes like Floyd could...would be the doors.

@Cool Coyote the reason I like this is because they'd just released their most successful album, dark side of the moon, and it seems they might have been out of ideas so they had to just make something out of nothing. So they just wrote songs about things they were going through like dodgy record labels and Syd Barrett showing up being all messed up. It just feels so sincere and personal. And yeah, us and them is a good comparison to this album.

yes they said about darkside that it was almost a throw away album , we didnt expect much out of it. invites some chick to sing in it (torrey)do whatever th fuk lol for me (and everyone)it just sounds like perfection , maybe they thought people at that time in the 70's were not ready for such an album.
