Without his guitar, to me Kurt cut a figure like that of a wiry shaped William burroughs.

At this point Kurt seemed to be so withdrawn from the whole "Rockstar" cliche, I would guess he released what rage and thoughts in 4 albums along with his handful of tours with his bandmates/family. As he quoted Neil Young, It's better to burn out then fade away. And the rest is history.
