I'd try to phone the Ayatollah Khomeini and tell him exactly where this man is."_So... as well as lying in this 'apology', he doesn't utter a word about the attacked publishers and translators - one of whom, translator Hitoshi Igarashi, was stabbed to death - or express any sympathy for the catastrophic effect the fatwa had on Rushdie's life. Stevens actually *blames Rushdie* for the whole affair....Stevens: _"The book itself destroyed the harmony between peoples and created an unnecessary international crisis."_An apology, this was *not.*Why is it so difficult for the writer of 'Peace Train' to publicly apologise to Salman Rushdie?Why is it so difficult for the writer of 'Peace Train' to categorically condemn ALL death sentences _anywhere_ placed upon those who've done nothing but exercise their most basic human right of free speech?The answer is obvious. Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam is a hypocrite and a fraud propagating the worst kind of religious fundamentalism imaginable.
