I love this album, its pure rock and roll of the early eighties ❤️🎵

For me this song is perfect, but so is the video.Only realised many years later how much the imagery was often reflected in my photography, even more now than before.Acutely stylish and all so evocative, yet with sweet whimsy.

I remember some ride along Helsinginkatu a some while ago...with those skates. They did not understand. But I was skating. Some 100 years ago.

I'll not forget seeing the great Dire Straits live at Olympic ark Melbourne around 1985/6 bros in arms tour ,the echo ,sound of the band were unreal .Loud but incredibly tight ,brilliant.That with Deep Purple reforming mark 2,would have to be my highlights still , legendary bands.Chris Kalikas.

Knopfler is Dickens with a guitar, A true craftsman... nobody writes a tune or plays a lick like marky baby..

I much preferred them before Brothers In Arms. Making Movies was my favourite album by them. Poor video but great song.

Haha coldgay have nothing on the knopf, where is anything they did close to even knopfs most mediocre guitar solo? Les Boys is better than their whole career a fairly unlistened to track that only the closet guitarists know about.

Definitely prefer the early Dire Straits sound.

When that beat starts for the song Skateaway when they are in concert, it's just so great.

Great Dire Straits song, one of my favourites; but what a terrible video, so lacking in atmosphere appropriate for the music. Garish, candy-coloured, verging on slapstick imagery, when I imagine a more London-themed nighttime-noir setting.

@David Grout I think terry Williams dit great on alchemy, it had much more energy which is good for a live performance.

@Lars Carpay He treated the song like a drum solo. I like drum solos. I like Terry's drumming on Money for Nothing. But on the live Sultans he is a blunt instrument, giving the song the full Lars treatment. I see your handle is Lars; no offense intended.
