Nobody seems to ‘understand’ this music...perhaps I am an anomaly amongst my peers.I hear something beautiful, wild, unleashed, and Free. That does it for me!

Love this song
Song STILL Kicks Ass at 60 Years Young!
Perhaps my favorite jazz tune.
1:02 for reference on the tpt solo
such a loose groove...over the more technical perfection players...listen to Blues March...hardly Blue Devil Corp perfection here (which is great), but so much feel and musicality...breathing room...flavors...Art was the man here!
this jazz album has a gospel/blues influence I can tell by the influences on this album
I found after hearing an interview with Steve Jordan. He said when he was a kid his dad told him to learn the drums in this and he'd be able to play anything.
Martin Paul Sr. Same, Steve Jordan is the man. Marons wtf podcast is pretty sweet too.
wonderful pure and natural art..!
Out to Lunch
It doe not get jazzier than this!
No Whisper
A ray of sunshine in a thick grayness of the french '60. ( talking about a french radio program " For the ones who love jazz", Daniel Fillipacchi & Frank Tenot , 1955-1971, eternal thanks to these people!)
ma jeunesse, j'adore
Blues March is a great tune played by a great bebop group. besides the drum intro, i especially like Benny Golson's work on the tenor sax.
Hard Bop..
@AriesBrother78 ...Thank you!
this makes fly my imagination
Art Blakey. This is culture.
+J. T. Bleu Everything unnatural is culture.
J. T. Bleu -- You got that RIGHT!!
This is just one of the many fine compositions by Benny Golson.
+James webb i love Benny Golson on Blues March but can't find a single decent CD with him on it. Anything to recommend?
+Artie Solomon : Artie, Benny made some fine recordings with the - Art Farmer & Benny Golson Septet. Many of which are on Utube. Happy listening.
"Domingo" is the CD you are looking for. It has some great tunes, like "Moment to moment" and "Domingo".
best crew...............best theme , awesome
Art Blakey (Drums)Lee Morgan (Trumpet)Benny Golson (Tenor saxophone) Bobby Timmons (Piano) Jymie Merritt (Bass)school/style of jazz: Hard Bopform: 12-bar bluesReason for inclusion: Nice combination of 12-bar blues played in march.

ONE OF THE SWINGINEST BE-BOP AND POST-BOP DRUMMERS THERE EVER WAS----PLUS HE NURTURED GENERATIONS OF NEW TALENT WITH THE MESSENGERS A TRUE ICON AND GENIUS, GOD BLESS HIM
Quando il Jazz intona le parole... Thanks jazzhole 13frank spada google+
very bitchin'
I had a chance to see Benny Golson at Jazz Showcase in Chicago yesterday. He took time out from the performance to tell us the story of how this tune came to be. Golson was trying to address some of Art Blakey's frustrations by highlighting his drumming and felt the best way to do that was to channel some of the marching bands he'd seen in the south, particularly at Howard University, and pulling them into a song that allowed Blakey the playing time he was looking for. I think it worked.
Listening to this song walking at the street you feel like you want to march, seriously.
Lee Morgan, benny Golson, Bobby Timmons, Jymie Merritt (bass) and Blakey
Beautiful, beautiful blues.
The genius of Benny Golson, using the march meter to create a classic jazz tune. Benny Golson: Killer Joe, I Remember Clifford. And he's on sax.
Love this record so much! Nobody "marched" like Art Blakey. And Bobby Timmons' piano solo is the bomb! There's so much to learn from this record about the blues!
JazzManLaf ...Bu was the master of the shuffle beat, PERIOD!!!
it magical song
great rhytmus cool
