I thought judging by the Hebrew writing "La Judeoria" on the cover that she must have something to do with Israel. It turns out that she is half Israeli and half Spanish. Nice looking though. Twelve years younger than I.

the original version is always the best, in this case Violeta Parra's original version is the best. but I do like Yasmine Levy version.. better than Sosa's

Nice singer and interpretation, and a nice song. But the song is not sephardic but chilean. It was composed by chilean folk singer and composer Violeta Parra around 1969, when she was passing a deep depression. She committed suicide a little after she wrote this song.

+Omar Vega Violeta Parra committed suicide in 1967.His album Las últimas composiciones (The Last Compositions) was released through RCA Victor label in 1966.

c'est vrai que l'interprétation est trop maniérée. La façon de laisser sa voix décroître n'importe comment , à la fin de nombreuses phrases. une espèce de dégueulando. Ce n'est pas le mot exact, mais je ne sais pas comment dire. Ecoutez de nuevo, vous comprendrez ce que je veux dire.De toute façon, cette espèce de dramatisation exagérée n'a aucun rapport avec la chanson. C'est dommage. Ce qui est bon pour un cri flamenco rugueux n'est pas bon pour un bilan très raisonnable et bienveillant de l'auteur de la chanson.Bon, on a le droit de se tromper.

La Violeta Parra, hace mucho que dejo de ser patrimonio de nosotros los chilenos. Esta se debe a la humanidad y en este planeta hay siete mil millones de personas que tienen el derecho de cantarla a como les dé la gana. @gitemenos Its a mix between spanish hebrew and some arabic words too...it has mostly spanish words it is a formal language but not taught in schools unfortunately, people need to save it, most people that speak ladino are in israel, turkey...some in the US like new york city...some words are written differently although they are pronounced exactly like spanish. look up ladino :)

@gitemenos Its not spanish, its ladino...the spanish of the jews that were expelled from spain in 1492 a lot of them went to turkey where she is from. The muslim sultan yazid at the time let them come in. She is now in Israel but of turkish andalusian sephardic descent.

El único detalle, es que exagera un poco en la forma que la cantaGracias a la Vida (Thanks to Life), was written and sung by Violeta Parra. The Parra's family is a jewish conversos. So it's a great honor that Yasmin Levi puts it in her repertoire. The only detail is that she exaggerates a little in the way to sing it
