I like a number of Stink's solo songs. They're as solid, lyrically, as the work he did with The Police. They're just not The Police... it's not like the other members of the group were scrubs, and they worked best together.

Ive remembered this song since i was around 6yrs old ,,and found it mysterious as much as i loved it ,,and now listening whilst knowing the words i love it even more its always somewhere inside me,,ive read somewhere one of stings songs came to him in a dream without knowing for sure i think ki g of pain must be the one it has a dreamy kind of feeling to it ,,its absoulutly brilliant

There are a lot of '80s songs that I like because I remember them being on when I was growing up. And then there are '80s songs that I recognize as genuinely being good, that I am pretty sure people will still be playing and listening to long after I am gone. This song is in that latter group. #brilliant

I remember this album like it was yesterday, I didnt really dig this song at first, but it really grew on me and now I think its their best track. they were absolutely at the peak of their powers with this album....toured for it, ,went on a break, Sting did some movies , they did the ''Bandaid'' thing ....then the fans waited for the follow up album and 36 years later we're still waiting.... how time flies.

I now know I am also a king of pain.

What instrument or synthesizer creates the ghostly wail at the beginning and toward the end? The sound ascends at the beginning, and at the end it descends. Sounds kind of like an air raid siren, and it gave me chills when the song first came out! An EXCELLENT song off an excellent album by an excellent group of musicians! 😀😁
