The songwriter and arranger was channeling very early 1960's Burt Bacharach.

Could you recommend a specific song or two by him I could check out to see what you mean?

My favorite Arcade Fire song done brilliantly. I can see why Calexico gave it a shot, it kind of sounds like one of their songs.

hehe... it always does when Calexico makes a cover of another bands song... try checking out their cover of Nick Drake´s "clothes of sand", Kenni Loggins´ "dangerzone" or R.E.M´s "the one I love"... They always manage to make it sound totally as Calexico songs... they are so brilliant - and furthermore an amazing live-band

Calexico is from Tucson, Arizona born in arizona, and named after a tiny town on the mexico, california border. i dunno what mexico city is all about.
