Technically idk why people are so mad. It’s a cover, of a song that was out and had been for months. However they decided to put it on their album, it’s not theft, it’s just a cover

the second girl that sang the first part of “what if i never get to see you because we’re both on a stage” ruined the whole song.at the end the two end girls just sounded like they were competing for who could hold the longest.

I don't like the cover messed the song all the way up.

Regardless of the controversy around this cover, it's not very good. Each vocalist sounds like an amature with a summer of vocal lessons. None of them can come close to the powerful heavens cracking, yet so very grounded voice that Banks possesses. If you going to cover a song and release it on your debut album before the Original artist's debut album with said song is released, at least do a good job. This is amature at best, Jasmine Thompson could have destroyed all 4 of these ladies at 10 years old if she covered this, now that's a cover artist to be proud of one's songs being sung by. I think at the end of the Day Banks was just unhappy with this poorly done cover.

they didn't steal it? they didn't claim to write it themselves and its specifically listed as a cover. its 100% legal to cover a song, and to also put a cover on an album...granted you sometimes have to give royalties but its still legal.

@Nico Robin surely thats an issue with the record labels and not the band themselves though? i imagine she would've made royalties from the sales as the writer. you usually have to sign off on the rights before a band can put a cover on an album...also surely if they could've been sued then banks record label would've done that?

It's a really good cover. I just don't feel it. Banks is all about the song and the mystic of it. Neon Jungle is more about the vocals. Maybe 2 of the girls managed to send their feelings accross, but it was empty for the most part. IMO

I like neon jungle and Banks but this cover was just not good at all...

No one near as good as the original as usual. I have no issue with covers. But what I do have an issue with is a band doing a version of a song that isn't well known enough by original artist and putting it on their album. BANKS is just now being nationally recognized. Having this on their album, many people would've thought it was their song and not BANKS, because they do not credit her at all on the album. BANKS said herself that she was hurt by this and I stand by her.

Robbie well, banks did put the song out 10 months before her album was released. Neon Jungle has no choice when choosing the creative direction for their album. However they did not steal it as such, they had rights to use the song, it was legal. It was just a cover that Sony wanted to put on their album
