Portland, Oregon; or anywhere else-no different...✨ 2 young women talking about the business of religion and where it fits into their spiritual quest.The modern bible itself is the product of numerous translations; lingual and political.  You "cannot serve God and money" is the truth.  One must look closely at the definition of "serve" to understand what it is they are financing-a "God like" spiritual environment or a scam?If questions about value for money are being raised, then there is a problem.  A communication problem.  Any public organization requires funding to operate in public-how they use this funding is up to the organization.  Is it well run or not?  As a business?  How much does the key guy give in relation to what he scoops off the plate?  These are all predictable questions that have answers.To me, the point of public religion (any religion) is to foster community spirit and share a "design for living" that is well communicated and based upon humility.  Children are the focus here-the idea is to have them grow in the right direction by taking solid, trustworthy, direction from spiritual elders.Ultimately, the question any religion faces if they are popular enough, is: how popular should they be?  Is there a necessary line of separation or should their successful spiritual interpretation be exported to others?  If people agree with the practical results of your religion, then attracting believers will not be a problem.  Never has been.  They must be well received.In the Alcoholics Anonymous organization there is/was a rule about leaving large gifts or donations as a way of saying "thanks" and keeping the thing alive-not allowed.  How often do you hear a spiritual outfit declare they DON'T want money?  If nothing else, recovering addicts are brutally honest and there are profoundly wise reasons for this rule.The difference between an adult organization and one designed around children, is that children need experiences to grow.  Experiences cost money to some degree; money their parents may not have as individuals, but can come up with as a group-a group of people that believe in the same standard of living.  Buildings, Choirs, sports teams, nature retreats, field trips, schools, etc. are all good things that need financing.  Giving to people outside your religion may also be a consideration, as long as faith in Lord God is confirmed if that is what your religion believes.  As individuals and small groups, you are only responsible to control yourselves, not others, with FAITH.When times are financially tough for average people, as they are now, giving money to anything is a big decision-irrationally high government taxes included.  You MUST take care of yourself before giving to others; otherwise, you will never have the strength to give your most precious gift-a better life for the next generation...I hope to continue providing a modern view of God as captured in translating the new testament, free of charge, to those who can accept it.  The behavior of modern christianity, in certain places, MUST NEVER REPLACE THE CORE TEXT as YOUR GUIDE to a spiritual design for living with practical results.  Treating other people well, especially those you don't know, is when you SEE GOD'S SPIRIT in YOU.  The result is guaranteed...✨RESULT✨✨1000✨✨GUARANTEED
