Hey Gang, All good comments about Marcus Miller!! I just want to make note of a Miles Davis flavor... Miles always found the young talented players back in the 60's & 70's! I.e. Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, Chic Corea, Gary Bartz & Lenny White!! Let's not forget Michael Henderson-yes-that Michael Henderson!!! Lol I know their some musicians I'm leaving out.. I suggest you purchase the following regarding Miles; A book titled "The Last Miles".. Next, a DVD called Electric Miles! You will need to goggle both items!! All I can say is the DVD will blow UR mind!! Take care-and-long live jazz fusion!!

Just so you guys know, it's actually possible that your daughter really do see music. I know this sounds weird as fuck, but it's a condition called synesthesia, and people with it have senses with mix up in their brain and can "see sounds", "hear smells" etc and associate specific things (like certain numbers or letters) to colours and see them in certain colours, so everything is Color-coded for them.

a saw a so-called greatest all time list of bass players and I had to laugh, Marcus wasn't on it, but Paul Mc Cartney was...Paul Mac is a brilliant song writer, but he is a sub par bassist, no where in the league of Jaco, Stanley, Pattitucci, Wooten, Marcus and I could go on for days before I ever reach his name. From a technical standpoint, Wooten, Jaco and Clarke stand above all, but when it it comes to just vibing on a groove, none of the aforementioned can touch MM. Wooten you listen to when you want to marvel at what can be done on a bass, Jaco and Stanley are the grand masters but Marcus is the funkiest MF period!!

I had a conversation about this very subject today (two years later). It's great to marvel at the techniques of the above mentioned bassists, snippets (at least for me) but MM is just very..musical. I can listen to his stuff without getting irritated.
